Saksunite tenant farmer André Kruse has set up a wicket gate at the road that leads to popular tourist attraction Sakun Beach plus attached a payment terminal to the gate, reports Faroese news website Portal.fo.
The payment terminal accepts Visa and Mastercards.
The farmer has also put up a new fence in the area, but he has still not blocked the entire road (see picture above).
In May, Kringvarp Føroya broke the news that Mr. Kruse planned to put a gate up across the road that leads to Saksun Beach.
Mr. Kruse told Kringvarp Føroya that “it is not possible to stop tourism, and thus, one has to get something out of the tourists.”
“There are so many people now, and we are forced to do something, and we have decided that the money that comes in will be used for paths and other maintenance,” said Mr. Kruse at the time, adding that he is “planning to put up the (aforementioned) gate within a month.”
